Zhiyong Mike Li is a Boston Based composer specializing in films, television, and video games. Mike is currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Film Scoring and Electronic Production & Design at Boston's Berklee College of Music.
Born in Dalian, China, Mike began his musical career by playing the Chinese Flute at the age of 8. Ever since then, he has discovered a spark and passion for composing and playing music as his career.
Upon moving to the United States and entering the prestigious Idyllwild Arts Academy for high school in 2014. Mike began his formal study in music composition with Dr. Mark Carlson and Classical Piano with Ms. Parvati Mani. In his junior year, he was introduced to compose music for a student film project called Please. Writing music for film discovered his love of composing film scores. By working with the director and teachers at school, the project had greatly expanded the vision that made him decided to aim for a career in Film Scoring.
Hard work pays off, the first short film project Please, got nominated as the best student film in the Hollywood International Film Festival, Won Best student film in Idyllwild International film festival, best sound editing/mixing in Stardance Youth international film festival. And nominated for best film scoring in the All American High School Film Festival.
In 2019, Mike was offered an internship with Hexany Audio LLC in Los Angeles, California. Throughout his time at Hexany, Mike entered the world of Game Audio and studied about the workflow, Audio Implementation, and Sound Design for Video Games. In addition, He recorded Chinese Flute for various video games like Honor of Kings, Kingdom Craft, Moonlight Blade,etc.
